The Majeske Advantage

Turning 65 is a big milestone — and at Majeske Insurance, we’re here to make Medicare simple for your and your family. Whether you’re enrolling for the first time, transitioning from employer coverage, or seeking better options, our licensed Medicare advisors provide expert, local guidance.

We live and work in the same community you do. Our advice is rooted in understanding your local hospitals, doctors, and how you prefer to access care.

Local Matters

Choosing a Medicare plan isn’t just about cost—it’s about what works with your local providers. We help you:

  • Identify which Medicare plans your local doctors and hospitals accept
  • Avoid surprise bills by confirming provider networks
  • Ensure your medications are covered under the right Part D plan
  • Compare top-rated carriers to match your needs and budget

This insight doesn’t come from a call center—it comes from real people who know your area. That’s the Majeske difference.

What Is Medicare?

Medicare is federal health insurance for:

  • People aged 65 and older
  • Those under 65 with qualifying disabilities (after 24 months of SSDI)
  • Individuals with ESRD (kidney failure needing dialysis or transplant)
  • ALS patients, eligible upon SSDI approval

Parts of Medicare

Part A: Inpatient hospital, skilled nursing, hospice, some home health

Part B: Doctor visits, outpatient services, preventive care, equipment

Part C (Advantage): Bundled A & B, often includes vision, dental, and drugs

Part D: Prescription drug coverage

You can also add a Medigap plan to reduce out-of-pocket costs.

Medicare Enrollment Periods

  • IEP: 3 months before and after your 65th birthday month
  • GEP: Jan 1 – Mar 31 annually (if you missed IEP)
  • AEP: Oct 15 – Dec 7 annually (change Advantage or Part D plans)
  • Medicare Advantage OEP: Jan 1 – Mar 31 (switch or drop Advantage)
  • SEPs: Life events like retirement, moving, or losing employer coverage

Not sure where you fall? Our team can guide you through.

What Do Medicare Supplement Plans (Medigap) Cover?

Medigap helps cover expenses that Medicare Parts A & B do not, such as:

  • Part A & B deductibles
  • Coinsurance for hospital and outpatient care
  • Copayments for services and doctor visits
  • Excess charges from providers not accepting Medicare assignment
  • Foreign travel emergency coverage

Note: Medigap does not include prescription coverage—you’ll need a separate Part D plan.

Medicare Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will I be automatically enrolled in Medicare when I turn 65?

A: If you’re receiving Social Security or RRB benefits, yes. Otherwise, you must enroll manually via SSA. Start 3 months before your 65th birthday.

Q: When should I apply for a Medigap plan?

A: During your 6-month Medigap Open Enrollment, starting when you’re 65+ and enrolled in Part B. No underwriting required during this period.

Q: Why do I need more than just Medicare Parts A & B?

A: Original Medicare leaves gaps: 20% coinsurance, deductibles, no drug, dental, or vision coverage. Medigap or Medicare Advantage helps fill those gaps.

Q: What is Medicare Advantage and do I qualify?

A: Part C bundles Parts A & B (and often D). Includes extras like dental or fitness. You qualify if enrolled in A & B and live in the service area.

Q: What is the difference between Medicare Advantage and Medigap?

A: Advantage replaces Medicare, adds benefits, uses provider networks. Medigap supplements Original Medicare, adds flexibility but no extra benefits.

Q: When can I enroll in Medicare?

A: IEP, GEP, AEP, Advantage OEP, or SEP—based on life events. Start planning 3–6 months before turning 65.

Q: Do I need Medicare if I have employer coverage?

A: Maybe not. If your employer plan is credible, you can delay Part B. Once it ends, a SEP allows enrollment without penalties.

Q: What does Medicare not cover?

A: It excludes long-term care, dental, vision, hearing, most overseas care, and drugs (without Part D). Add Advantage or Medigap + Part D to fill gaps.

Q: What happens if I miss my Medicare enrollment?

A: You may face penalties, delays, or limited Medigap access. Plan ahead to avoid these issues.
