If you have a Cigna individual or family health plan in Colorado, your coverage ends on December 31, 2026. Cigna will not offer individual or family medical plans in Colorado for 2027, and a Cigna plan cannot be renewed. About 40,853 Coloradans are affected, and every one of them needs to choose a new plan during Open Enrollment, which begins November 1, 2026.

The good news: you have strong options, you have time if you start early, and free local help is available. Here is what to know.

When does my Cigna coverage end?

Your current Cigna plan runs through December 31, 2026. It does not roll over into a new plan on its own. If you do nothing, you will have no individual health coverage on January 1, 2027. To keep continuous coverage, enroll in a new plan by December 15, 2026, and it starts January 1, 2027. If you enroll between December 16 and January 15, your new coverage starts February 1, 2027, which leaves a gap in January.

Which companies sell individual health plans in Colorado for 2027?

Six carriers offer individual and family coverage in Colorado for 2027: Select Health, Anthem, Rocky Mountain Health Plans, Kaiser Permanente, Denver Health, and Colorado Access, which is new to the marketplace this year and focused on the Denver metro area. Between them there are plans at every price level, including Colorado Option plans with set copays for common care.

Will financial help still be available for 2027?

Yes. Federal premium tax credits continue for 2027 for households that qualify, generally between 100 and 400 percent of the federal poverty level, and Colorado adds its own state assistance on top for many shoppers. Most of our clients are surprised by how much help they qualify for, including families who assumed they earned too much. The only way to receive financial help is to enroll through Connect for Health Colorado, the state marketplace.

How do I keep my doctors when I switch?

Networks are the detail that matters most in a switch, and they differ from plan to plan even within the same carrier. Before you enroll, confirm three things: your primary care doctor, your specialists, and your prescriptions, each against the exact plan you are considering, not just the carrier name. We run those checks for our clients on every option we quote, before anyone enrolls, so there are no surprises in January.

What should I do first?

Book a review in November rather than December. Appointments fill fast as the December 15 deadline approaches, and an early review gives you time to compare networks and total costs without rushing. Bring your current plan details and your best estimate of your 2027 household income. That is all you need to get accurate numbers.

A local broker costs you nothing. Your premium is the same whether you enroll on your own, through a call center, or with a broker, so the local guidance is free. What changes is who checks the networks, who answers the phone in January, and who is still here when you have a problem in March.
