Colorado Access Choice is a new individual and family health insurance option for 2027 through Connect for Health Colorado. If you buy your own coverage, it is another option to include in your review this fall. The marketplace encourages returning customers to compare their choices even if their current plan renews automatically. Source: Connect for Health Colorado.
A new option is a reason to take a closer look. It does not automatically mean you should switch. At Majeske Insurance Consulting, we can help you compare it with the other plans available where you live, starting with the care that matters to you.
Where is Colorado Access Choice available?
The carrier lists these 14 Colorado counties: Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Clear Creek, Denver, Douglas, Elbert, El Paso, Gilpin, Jefferson, Park, Pueblo and Teller. It offers Bronze, Silver and Gold plans. Check your home address when comparing available options. Source: Colorado Access Choice.
Can I keep my doctors?
Colorado Access Choice uses an EPO network. Routine care generally must be received in its network; most other services outside the network are not covered unless authorized or otherwise required to be covered. Emergency and urgent care have exceptions. In-network specialists do not require referrals. Source: carrier network guidance.
Bring the names of your doctors, specialists and preferred hospital to your review. We can check each against the specific plan you are considering. Ask the office to confirm the exact plan and location, too. A familiar insurance company name alone does not confirm that your doctor participates in every plan it offers.
What should I compare before switching?
- Your prescriptions: Bring the medication name, strength and preferred pharmacy so we can review coverage and any approval requirements.
- Your likely care: Tell us about upcoming visits or procedures you want to consider when comparing costs.
- Your total budget: Look at the monthly premium alongside deductibles, visit costs and the annual limit on covered care expenses.
- Your household: Have your best estimate of 2027 household income ready for a financial assistance review.
Financial help may be available through Connect for Health Colorado depending on eligibility. We can review your application and compare the prices that apply to your household. Source: Colorado health coverage guidance. You can also read our Colorado Premium Assistance guide.
When can I enroll for 2027?
Colorado’s individual market Open Enrollment runs November 1, 2026 through January 15, 2027. Schedule your review early so there is time to compare options and confirm the start date you need. Quick answers
Should I change plans just because this option is new?
No. Start with your doctors, prescriptions and budget, then compare. A plan should fit your needs, not simply be new.
Do I need a review if my current plan renews?
Yes. Automatic renewal does not guarantee that your premium, financial assistance, benefits or network will remain the same. Source: marketplace renewal guidance.
What should I bring to my appointment?
Your current plan information, doctor and hospital names, medication list and estimated 2027 household income make a useful starting point.
